Hargrave Home Sweet Home

It has been quite the journey over the past several months, and it's no where near over!

Since the day we got into the house our renovation journey has been full of ups and downs, but we are getting closer and closer to the end of the big, need to get done projects. So, in celebration of that, and as a reminder of how far we've come, here is a post documenting our progress 🙌

Here is a quick timeline of our last 4(ish) months:

• February 15th we found a cute little house to look at after just a couple weeks of looking at houses.         
• The next day we put in an offer on the house. 
• March 15th we closed on our first house!
• April 14th we got into the house and immediately began demolition and updating. 
• May 15th we moved in to our new home!

In just a month's time we ripped out the old kitchen and got most of the major renovations done before we moved in. Since moving in we have finished cabinets, finished painting, gotten a new washer and dryer (after quite the debacle), worked on the yard a bit, and more. 

Here are all the things we have worked on thus far:

- Ripped out about 6 layers of flooring in the kitchen

- Discovered dry rot in floor, thus replacing some subflooring

- Tore down kitchen wall, took out a window, and put up new insulation and drywall 

- Put in new kitchen flooring

- Tore out cabinets

- Put in new cabinets 

   (massive project, never doing our own cabinets again if we can help it lol)

- Painted all rooms

- Got the original hardwood floors redone 

- Mudded nearly every wall in the house to even out the walls 

- Tore out the entryway closet and replaced with hooks and a bench

- Took down a massive ceiling fan in our bedroom that was hanging on by a wire (literally  

    one wire)

- Put in new ceiling fan

...and I'm sure there are some things I'm missing, but we've accomplished a lot and it feels so good to see this house slowly but surely become our home. When ever we get down about something with the house we just look at how far we've come and it's amazing to see how much we have done.

We still need to finish installing the sink, dishwasher, and backsplash,

hook up a light over the sink, and a few other small things, 

but the countertops are in!

There is a lot more work to go, but it's starting to feel like home!
