Choosing to be Thankful
You know those mornings where you wake up and everything just seems to be ticking you off?
Today was one of the those mornings for me.
I slept past my alarm this morning so I woke up late, thankfully still got to work on time, but managed to snap at my husband before he dropped me off at work. Once I got to work everything just seemed to be irritating me. I really had no reason for it to be affecting me that way, but nevertheless, it did.
As I was sitting at my desk, grumbling to myself about the paperwork before me, I realized that I don't have to have a bad day. I don't have to let things annoy me and get me in a bad mood. I can choose to be thankful instead.
So, instead of heading down the path of irritated and annoyed I chose to turn up my All Sons & Daughters Pandora station, grab a cup of coffee and my pecan pie Larabar, and choose to be happy and thankful.
I have so much to be thankful for! Things that were being completely ignored before I decided to redirect my thoughts.
The sun is shining, the snow is melting, I have coffee {thank you, Jesus!}, I have a wonderful husband who shows me continuous love and support, I get to see two of my sisters tonight AND my little niece {in baby bump form}...the list could go on.
As soon as I chose joy and allowed God to take back control in my day it "randomly" started to get better.
Funny how that works right?
Thankfulness is not always an easy task, but I firmly believe that we can choose to be thankful.
And when we choose thankfulness and recognize the blessings God has given us, big or small, we allow God to work in our day and show us how much better our day can be when we allow him to bring us joy.
So if you're having a terrible day, or even if you're not, I invite you to join me in choosing to be thankful. Make a list {whatever size you want} of the things you can be thankful for today. Allow God to take back control and help you have a better day. ❤️
