Welcome To A Season of Waiting

Welcome to a season of waiting.

Though, I must admit, it seems like we have been in a season of waiting almost this entire year.
- Waiting for a cure for COVID
- Waiting to be free of cancer
- Waiting for justice
- Waiting to see family & friends again
- Waiting for a fulfilling job, or for a job to slow down
- Waiting for election results
- Waiting for school to go back to “normal”
- Waiting for new life in the midst of an otherwise deathy feeling year…
So it feels good and right to be stepping into this intentional season of waiting.
In this time of Advent, we say “Come Lord Jesus” and we wait.
Anticipating with hope that Christ will come.
We begin our time of Advent with this theme of hope.
So not only are we waiting, but we are eagerly waiting with hope.
Waiting with hope is a much greater place to be than when waiting out of a place of despair. And if I’m honest, a lot of the waiting I have found myself in lately has felt like it has come out of a place of despair instead of hope. So I am particularly grateful for this reminder that we wait with hope in the midst of the darkness.
So with bright eyes, like a child awaiting the lighting of a Christmas tree, we eagerly await what we know is to come, but what we cannot yet see. We watch for the light with hope.
